The State of the Nation's Cities: A Comprehensive Database on American Cities and Suburbs

By

Glickman, Norman J.

Commissioned by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), this database provides information on over 3,000 variables for 77 American cities and suburbs. Variables concern "employment and economic development, demographic measures, housing and land use, income and poverty, fiscal conditions, and a host of other health, social, and environmental indicators." The data is available in a variety of formats; a multi-faceted snapshot database, rather than a detailed time series one, describes this resource.
